Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes, we turned ourselves around.

Holy Crap

Since we’ve opened 2phatgeeks.com in early March of this year, we’ve seen quite a bit of growth. Today we hit the big one thanks to some kind Stumbler who thumbed up: Two phat geek’s simple secrets to a happy marriage.

(Originally, when this post was made, we had 2, 281 views) Now it’s 1, 907 for that single post alone, and 2, 126 views in two days. WOW. That’s amazing traffic for our little corner of the internet and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

In celebration of growth, we’ve decided to change the layout of 2phatgeeks to a different template from one of our most favorite (among many) designers. This one’s called DailyPress and it’s by Jai of Blog Oh! Blog fame.

Why’d we change the layout yet again?

Yeah, we know. Three layout changes in nine months or so, must be driving our readers batty! But, there’s a reason! While BlueWeed by Blog Oh! Blog is a sweet ass layout, we were finding now that we’d decided to venture out into trying to make a little more money with 2phatgeeks that the arrangement wasn’t working. We had one big giant recent post pushing the sidebar, ad spots, blog roll and categories down the page making you, the viewers, have to scroll to the center of the earth to find them. Not fun. So we decided to chose a pretty swanky layout that wouldn’t make you guys have to climb Mount Posterest in search of info, and of course, to give our interested advertisers prime real estate.

We love you and want to squeeze you and even call you George.

So in thanks for your patience, your loyalty, and your continued visits to 2phatgeeks.com the first 10 to comment to this post will get themselves a free link in our links page!

We love you guys for sticking with us! Thanks so much!

You’re very welcome! And hiya there, I’m so glad you stopped by and left a comment! Appreciate it!

Stumble Upon’s been pretty good to us, but today’s been amazing.

A little more difficult for me to tell when it comes to Entrecard yet, but I think that it’s a close second! Entrecard HAS however, brought me some great comments already!

EDIT: Oops! Forgot to mention–congrats on being 1 of 10! Got you linked on our links page! :D

Congratulations on the traffic and This theme really rocks. I’ve been using it for a few days now. I spent couple of days tweaking it and transferring the codes from my old theme to the dailypress theme. I just noticed that the sidebar gets messed up in IE6. Other than that it’s a pretty sweet theme. :)

Thanks very much, Louie! I don’t know who thumbed it up, but I’m grateful to them!

It is a really awesome theme that can fit all sorts of blogs. While Blue Grass was pretty great, we weren’t hip to the whole single giant post pushing down the side bar and everything else. Could have removed it, but that would have just involved a biiiit more hassle than either one of us were willing to go through.

Thanks so much for visiting and commenting! I’ll get a link up to OrangeInks now! :)

It seemed a Stumbler who goes by the name FeroxThyla in SU made the discovery. A lot of people in SU liked your post too including me. ;)

Here’s the review page for your post.

To be honest I’m not really a frequent reader, mainly because I don’t understand a lot of the stuff and the titles put me off :P

Mel,

Theme looks great and don’t worry about changing too often. In two years I have redesigned my site at least 6 times maybe more.

It looks great and I am happy to say I am getting myself a link. But even better than that I am going to give one back to you.

Adam

Thank you, Eve!
I’m digging the layout too, it just seems a little bit softer to me, if that makes sense. I’d give ya a link but I already did :p

Happy to see your traffic increasing. It’s important to use a theme that matches your primary mission. Your site looks a lot more “professional” than before. Good luck!

Thanks, Mark, I am too! Though I think that might be every blog owners dream. 2phatgeeks is such a mixed bag, any theme with a little tweaking might have fit, but this one has a nice “middle ground” feel to it. Thanks for dropping by and commenting!

I *really* like the knew layout. I have to agree, it looks really, really neat and clean this way.

Thank you snoofums, I do too (duh.) The older layout was neat but it was pushing and cramming a lot of stuff further down and making everything look crowded. This one works out to be less like that!

Layout looks good, I’ve been known to change the template several times in a short space of time, usually bugger everything up when I do though!

@Mik:

It’s all thanks to Jai of Blog Oh! Blog, I swear. Jai makes some kick ass free themes for us, and I can only imagine what the Premium ones must be like!

The first time I changed templates I screwed a lot of stuff up–I forgot about the customized files I had for certain plug ins and template changes. That was a mess xD

Got yourself a free link too, Mik :D
