Things I’d smother myself in peanut butter and walk nude down the street for.
Oct 2, 2008 Geekery
Okay, maybe I wouldn’t walk nude down the street for them…But here are some great, geeky, futuristic things I would just love to have in my home:
Let’s stick together.
This freakin’ curtain would amuse me for hours on end. And it isn’t like I need anything complicated anyway to enthrall me for such a time, but think about all the absolutely neat ways you could arrange your curtains. How much further you could drive home to your neighbors that you are, in fact, an odd ball–and what the hell has she been doing that’s been keeping her in front of her window for seven hours? The magnetic Curtain is supposedly going to be made available (if it hasn’t already) through Droog Design.
I’m dreamin’ ’bout the maaaan in the shower, awww yeah!
Not really, but the headline is awful and cheesy, isn’t it? I’m actually dreaming about The Musical Shower Head, designed by Hae Lim. This little beauty in concept, comes with its own water proof charger (that’s the little white part dudes), plays music, and pulses the water to the rhythm of the music its playing. Within the shower head are the controls for the music and water. I’m sure it’s just me, right, but I do some awesome singing when I am in the shower. I know, because our two cats always yowl at the top of their lungs any time I do. I can’t imagine the hours of suds n’ singing fun I’d have with this!
Is that a pixel on your couch, or are you just jaggy to see me?
This is the pixel couch designed by Cristian Zuzunaga. I love this, not because it actually brings to mind pixels but mostly because of the gorgeous color. If you don’t know it yet, I have a secret love affair with bright, bold colors that aren’t quite neon. This couch just looks deliciously comfortable too and I don’t think it needs to be sharpened at all.
Your coffee table just beeped at me.
Surface tension has made a table that is powered by awesome and win. Also, electricity. The Arcade Coffee table is a functional foot rest, coffee cup rest, magazine holder, and friend pwner. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE–don’t want to play traditional arcade games? Then you can play something a little more modern thanks to the Arcade Coffee table’s Windows XP based system. No? That doesn’t get you interested? How about uploading all of your music and streaming ‘net radio? Still not sold. Alright, fine, how about searching the interwebs and viewing your favorite pictures? This table makes me happy in the nerd places!
Oh Jane Worthington, you naughty, naughty, wonderful girl.
This sofa is actually called the Jane Worthington DS 152 Sofa from de Sede, and I don’t really know why nor care because after seeing this I think I fell in love. Look at that space…Look at that god damn space. It’s so ..round and soft. It beckons me. It says, blog in me, Mel! You know you want to. Ohhh, yessss, watch your SG:1 reruns on me. Mmmm. Yeah. Sure, the chair can fit two people blahblahblah–but the options! You can fit a flat screen monitor on this sex-sofa and have internet relations in super comfort.
Game over. Byew-byew-byew (It’s pac man, get it? Pa..Oh never mind.)
Qayot wants you to sit on pac-man. No, why would I lie to you about that? Seriously, they’ve designed Pouf-man, which if you are not a nerdling and blind to it, you’ll notice its actually pac-man and that much more kick ass. A series of chairs and seats that can be pulled apart or together and arranged in proper geekery that are shaped like the classic gaming yellow guy we all know and love. Casual and fun and dorky.
I love him for his HUGE, GIANT, MASSIVE…Television.
I’m not sure if you are aware of it, since it is already splashed across every geek loving website from one side of the intarwebs to the other, but Panasonic just put the fun back in “funpants” when it comes to television. That’s right, Panasonic has made a flat screen T.V. which will now allow you to count exactly how many nose-hairs Hugh Laurie has while he’s playing the loveable Dr. House. It’s 150 inches of pure, plasma-licious mo-fo’ing brain drooling screen.
Good god, but had I let myself be carried away I might have gone on for several days. Light emitting wall stickers? Binary curtains? Sign me up! Now that I’ve showed you mine, you show me yours? What home geekery or home gadgets have got you drooling?

I want that pixel couch if it comes in shades of blue. That thing is awesome.
But the one thing that I will want forever and never will be made is a hover board. I have wanted it since child hood and Michael J Fox rode on it is back to the future.
Cool post.

Ooooh, the things you could do, get away with, and race off faster after.
I think if it came to stuff from a movie I’d really want, several of the holographic display/touch activated computers would make me a very happy geek!
I absolutely love that sofa!
