Been a while since I watched Dr. Who a lot, Tom Baker was the actor playing the role when I watched it the most. When I have seen any of the latest shows it just seems so cheesy and over the top, maybe it has always been that way but it doesn't have the appeal it once did.

Only seen a couple of episodes featuring the two later actors you mentioned.

<i>"Maybe it’s a difference in tastes.</i>"

It probably is! For me, there was something more rugged and more..Dr. Who-ish about Christopher. David seems...delicate. Like he belongs behind a computer desk making PEWPEW! noises.

That's my thing though, and maybe that's coloring my current judgment of the series.

I too, like the little monkey. He's cute and you go awwww. But for me, I can't see lil' monkey saving the universe. Maybe I'll do better giving the series another chance with the new Dr.!

Admittedly, I am not as huge a geek as you or others when it comes to this particular fandom. I did not watch the original Doctor Who series. Either because I was too young or because I had just never heard about it; maybe both.

However, I too am absolutely in love with David Tennant. He made me love the Doctor Who series. Christopher Eccleston didn't really do it for me. Maybe it's a difference in tastes. I like me the skinny, pretty boys. Other women prefer the big beefcakes. I also like the goofy, crazy wide-eyed monkey thing that you refer to. It's true, and I love it. Any more than that I can't tell you. The plots, satire, humor and so forth are just so captivating, to me.
