So your behind the MMORPG times a little and have just realized there’s a Star Wars MMORPG, Star Wars: Galaxies. Even though it’s five years old, you’ve been futzing about here and there and have really enjoyed yourself. Alas, alak, woe–there’s a problem! You have a question about the game and for whatever reason, don’t want to alt +tab out or you need help ingame with a quest or mission. What to do?
Here are some simple tips on finding help ingame that will also assist you in not sounding like you need to be jettisoned out the nearest air lock:
They’re called helpers for a reason.
You may notice about the heads of several players that there are titles and or tags above. Some of them are OOC, ROLEPLAY, and on occasion: HELPER. Those with the HELPER tags usually are exactly that. They’re willing to help those who are new to the game and need answers.
Chat Commands. No, “sit” isn’t one of them.
Now that you’ve found your victim helper, how do you contact them? Well, you can contact them and ask your question right in spatial (/say) if you want or you could send them a /tell. /tells are generally far easier to keep track of due to the fact there is a small sound sent to the user when they get one, and (hopefully) they don’t tend to scroll as fast as the chat in spatial. Try sending your question via a tell so that they don’t miss it and you don’t miss out on the answer.
You can send someone a tell by simply typing /tell and then a single space, then player name. So like this:
/tell mel omg u r awesome!
U GEIV CRED PLZ?!11!!!!
While you don’t have to type as if your passing in a paper, a little time and effort goes a long way. Instead of demanding they answer your question say at the very least, “hi.” When you ask your question, they and word it in a manner that seems respectful. Please and Thank You go a long way, “can i have 2100000 cred plz?” will probably get you on an ignore list.

Should you find yourself contacting a helper that is the exact opposite of what their tag says, don’t be discouraged. There are people out there tagged with the helper tag that are extraordinary game players with massive amounts of patience, knowlege, and assistance to give you to help you with your game play experience.
To to break it down for you, it’s pretty simple. Just be:
- Courteous
- Polite
- Patient
And no doubt you’ll get it returned as well as having your questions answered!
