Augh, voice chat.

I didn't and don't mind if a guild or group of players decide to use Ventrilo or whichever voice chat program out there is available--for grouping and raids. When it comes to role play, I don't see the point no.

The game really didn't need a voice chat feature. The game needed a feature to roll it back several years ...But, I agree Carol. The community is well and truly destroyed, I think.

Let us hope that the new Star Wars based MMO will take many, many lessons from it's predecessor, hmm?

Thanks Carol for the comment and dropping by! I appreciate it!

I quit at NGE and spent years trying just about every other game out there - only to be very disappointed.

I've recently gone back to SWG but it really doesn't have that same feel to it.

Unfortunately, they've now added the voice chat which I fear will completely destroy the few pockets of good role playing that were left :(

Pity they still don't recognize their greatest strength was and is the community.

@ Hey Jug! Thanks for dropping by!

I never really got into Ragnarok Online, but the bot phenomena isn't specific to that game. Unfortunately, I think prevalent 'bots are a large sign that the community as well as game is going down hill.

Are you playing anything at the moment?

I played Ragnarok Online before... there were times that I was online 24/7! But sadly the community gradually "diminished". I don't know why, it's full of bots already. Ah well. Time to move on, I guess!

@Galenor,

Just goes to show that it doesn't matter which game or what platform, it's really all about the people and sense of community in the end.

I share your feeling!

I played two MMOs to death - Ragnarok Online and World of Warcraft. I joined awesome guilds in each and had a great time. Now, flicking through the screenshots of the guild events, the chat, the fun we had - it really does feel that a part of the game has died, but only for me. Nothing could ever replicate those moments with the guild, no matter how many you join.

I guess thats why i keep my screenshots!

It was, wasn't it, Ross?

Until they mussed it up accidentally on purpose, SWG was one of the best community supported games I've ever come across.

In all my years, I am not sure I will ever stumble upon a game with quite the same feel to it again.

Thanks for dropping by and thanks for commenting!

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! I used to play SWG before the first expansion came out. Then after the expansion I moved on to EQ2 and WoW. To this day, SWG was/is my most favorite MMO, and that is due mostly on, as you said, the community. So many awesome people to play with, being a Rebel and ganging up on an Alliance Guild's base with 100 people just to take it down. I was a bounty hunter and it was SO awesome how you would get quests to kill ACTUAL(non-NPC) players for a reward. Best game ever(until the expansions)IMHO
