Triond, get paid for creating content: my first impression.
Apr 1, 2008 Computers and Internet
It has been four days and four submitted pieces of content, since I first signed up with Triond.
Triond is a website that allows you to publish content–any content really–and upload it to their website. Some mysterious Wizard behind the Curtain will review what you submit, make sure that it’s original and not published elsewhere, and then publish it for you.
It goes to the various websites Triond has their fingers in, be it pictures or articles. Depending on how many views it gets and whether or not you break past (If I remember correctly) 50 cents, you get paid.
If you’re just beginning to submit and have not done so before, you probably don’t have a larger following of readers, as I do not. I did not expect to be rolling around on the floor in money either, I’m doing this generally for practice and out of love for the one thing I like to do: babble. Oh, I mean, write. Yes.
But four days in and I cannot say that I am entirely impressed.
The idea of Triond is a good one. I don’t have an issue with the way the site is set up, it is easy for me to figure out what I should do and where, it’s simple in its presentation and there are a lot of explainations as to how most things work. But Triond is lacking in two departments: editing and image use in articles.
So far, I haven’t been able to figure out where to find more in depth information as to why, in two of my articles, neither of the images which I uploaded with them were not used. I’ve skimmed a single sentence somewhere that mentioned they may not be used if it doesn’t match the content–but I’m pretty sure pictures taken of my pet cockatiel, Nugget, for a cockatiel article matches? I also have used images I have created and taken myself just to make sure I don’t step on any toes, despite the widely available stock images from several websites. No go. None of my images submitted to Triond’s writing section have yet, showed up.
When it comes to editing, I don’t have a second set of eyes or editor to glance over all of the things I write. Which means no matter how many times I pore (thanks Issa!) over what I’ve written I will always miss one little thing. This was the case with my first article, Five Reasons Why you Can’t Keep me as Reader. There are several grammatical errors that I let slip through, redundant words and a mistakenly used “s” when it should have been a “d”. In hopes of fixing the issues and polishing the article I uploaded the fixed version of the file.
It was rejected. Triond tells me the reason was because-nothing Fixed: Your submitted fix appears to contain nothing to fix. This is really odd, because I was 100% there when I fixed things, rearranged several sentences as well as removed doubled words, clarified several vague and awkward phrases and changed that damn “s” to a “d”.
These two issues make me wonder if it’s worth it, at the moment, to continue with Triond. I make several very small mistakes when ever I write (I bet you’re counting them now) that I need to be able to edit and change possibly several times in a row at any given time during the day. Having that ability taken away from me, as well as having to wait 24+ hours just to see that all the changes I’ve made have been rejected because…A magical something behind a big curtain can’t pick up or recognize new content within the old? How do I compete, then, with my mistaken riddled plain articles that have no images to catch a reader’s eye in comparison to the highly popular articles that are formatted that way?
Seems a might unfair to the little guys, doesn’t it? If we can’t edit our stuff and we can’t put images in it, how are we to attempt our best to get noticed in the sea of text?
Triond isn’t a bad idea. It’s just a good idea not entirely implemented well.

I also write on Triond; however, I have had no problems with it yet. All pictures that were in my submitted article were also published with my article. I have also edited articles before, and never had the problem that you have had. I have been with Triond since January 2008, and, excluding the fact that I make little icnome off my articles, it is still worth it in my mind. Don’t give up on Triond just yet, perhaps these poblems you had were rare, and wont happen again.
Hi Mitchell!
I’ve had two articles of mine that I’d written with images I’d taken and made myself not show up. So I’m curious as to what reasoning they never show.
May I ask, how do you submit them? A word .doc, .txt? Are your images already hosted and then inserted?
Thanks very much for coming by and leaving some positive reinforcement, I’ll try and give Triond the benefit of the doubt.
When writing an article with images, you must first find the image on your computer, right-click it and click copy, and paste it where you want in your article, and it should appear as a picture in your document. You can even manually insert the picture through the “Insert” tab at the top of the program you use [most have an Instert tab, if not, there should be some option in one of the tabs letting you insert images]. So when you save your document, your document should appear as you would want it to appear on your article. You can refer to my topic which has several pictures (all of which have no copyrights, of course), here: http://www.webupon.com/Security/Six-Simple-Ways-to-Ensure-That-Your-Computer-Stays-Safe.99420
All I did was paste the pictures below the headers above each picture. So it is a fairly simple task once you get used to it.
I hope I have helped, and I hope you do give Triond the extra chance, as it is, by far, the best site I have found so far. I also have two close friends who make around $20-25 a month off of it. I wont lie, I make less than $1 a month so far, but it’s still nice to get paid, even if it isn’t much, for just writing articles that you enjoy.
@Mitchell,
Thanks for coming back and giving a detailed step by step. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing, however, which is why I am puzzled as to why none of them show up.
And, of course, all of the images are images I’ve taken myself, so I can obviously use them. So as far as I know, then, it’s an issue on Trionds or whomever edits and uploads whatever I write.
But there isn’t any one at first glance, to contact to speak to about this, thus why I asked. Thanks again for clarifying and coming back.
I added my Wordpress installation documentation in ODT format and it shows correctly (after one incomplete upload or other kind of file error).
I’ve been using WordDoc’s and simply inserting an image via Word’s tools. So your response makes me wonder even more why my images weren’t uploaded.
Thanks for dropping by Wicke, very handy article on Triond, too!
Hi guys, gals.
I’ve just suscribed to Triond, to monetize my own blabla (french word for “babbling”, I guess).
But I can’t seem to be able to upload my content, as a.txt, or .doc.
The problem is that the submission form asks me to “select a category”, by “selecting a fie”, but there is no choice offered in this dropdwon box, so I can’t choose any category…
Do you guys have any idea what this means, and how I can workaround that ‘little implementation feature’(or “bug”, as we call that in french)?
Thanks.
(Melissa, you have a new member following you, btw!)
Heya Zack!
I have to admit that I haven’t tried uploading any file with the new site redesign. It may be a bug, but I can’t offer any helpful advice for you at the moment because I haven’t submitted in a bit!
Have you attempted to find a link to support or a place you can e-mail Triond about this?
Thanks very much Zack, for following me!
Zackatoustra,
I used to have this problem too. I just had to wait about 5 minutes [at the most] before the catagories appeared. It is just slow with any slow internet connections, if I am correct. So next time that problem is there, just keep it on that page for 5 minutes, and wait for the list to appear. I hope that helps.
Mitch
I have used Triond and had a problem uploading a word doc with photographs (my own), the first article took about an hour to upload, the second was text only and was uploaded in seconds, my third just sits loading and goes nowhere. Triond support (Kim) has been very helpful, not always answering what I ask but does come back with offers of advice, ie check out my javascript is enabled (it is). I have tried for a week now just to upload one article and am wondering if anyone out there has any advice they can offer me.
I enjoyed reading this article and the comments that followed on,thanks for sharing.
I’m sorry, Ghunibee, I haven’t any idea why it’s hanging up for you. Most of my articles are submitted via Word Document and upload fine. The only issue I was having was the disappearance of my images I was using with articles. That seems to be fixed.
I haven’t any advice for you, but maybe a google search or poke about might help?
i just signed up for triond and i have verified my account but i cant publish my content.i have tried over and over and still cant get it to work. please help
Unfortunately, Mo, that’s a very vague statement and I’m not sure exactly, how to help you.
Rejected content generally comes with a note telling you why it was rejected.
If you are publishing stories some things to keep in mind: Stories and articles you have published elsewhere will be rejected. You have to upload original articles and stories which have not been published elsewhere.
Make sure your writing is decent: spell checked and decent grasp on grammar. (As you can see, I am not perfect either, but a go of it helps.)
If you are submitting images: remember to keep your image description short and too the point. Too long and they tend to reject it. Same with titling your images. Remember to title it something specific to what the image is.
Last but never least, there is always the FAQ and HELP for you to read to see if that may help you.
Good luck!
